Hi, I'm Dr Kathryn Peckham
International Educational Consultant, Researcher and Author | Specialist in Early Years, Student Engagement and Innovative Teaching and Learning
I have supported educational settings all over the world, done the research and written the books. I am the founder of Nurturing Childhoods and the LEAD School Network. And also the mother of two amazing adults.
Throughout my years of working with children and their families I have met some extraordinary people. All of whom have been shaped by their own childhoods and educational experiences.
Sometimes that has worked well - but more often than not I hear stories of traditional education models failing young learners. Quite simply, because it is outdated and designed with the wrong end goal. But there is a better way.

With over 20 years of experience in international education, I have worked across Africa and the Middle East, partnering with ministries, private education groups, schools of all sizes as well as vocational institutions and international universities.
My main focus has been on sustainable practices. This has seen me helping schools, parents and students to develop education that is meaningful, effective, inclusive and future career focused.
I am an expert in school design, curriculum development and policy reform. I also specialise in teacher recruitment and help you find your next role.
I have led projects across diverse budgets and sectors and with scalable programs adopted across Africa and the Middle East. I am experienced in leading inspections and applying various frameworks to support school performance.

Where is the confusion coming from?
Working in the early years for over twenty years I have often found myself asking... "Why didn't someone tell me that when my children were little?" And when I hear the advice being given or watch ineffective teaching, I want to shout... "Don't you know what that is doing?!"
There are so many little things that we can do that make such a huge difference to our children in the long term. And yet we can spend so much time and energy worrying about things that really don't matter. Of course, we can also do things the way they have always been done without realising the damage that it is causing.
For many, raising and educating children seems like a minefield of contradictions, anxiety and confusion. But it doesn't have to be that way.
